MCP Quickstart & Setup Guide

Connect Got Simplified to Your AI Tools

Use Got Simplified remote MCP servers directly inside your favorite desktop IDEs and command-line AI tools. Pick between automatic browser-based OAuth 2.1 or a static API Token.

1

Step 1: Copy Your Server URL

Every app in Got Simplified (Notes, Calendar, Data Lake, Tasks, etc.) has its own unique remote MCP server endpoint.

  1. Browse to any app on Got Simplified or click an app card to open its detail page.
  2. Look for the MCP Server URL box near the top of the modal or page.
  3. Click the Copy URL button.

2

Step 2: Choose Your Authentication Method

Method A: OAuth 2.1 (Recommended)

No API keys to copy or rotate. Your CLI or IDE pops open your browser, you log into Got Simplified once, and tokens exchange securely with PKCE.

  • ✓ Auto browser loopback handoff
  • ✓ Auto token refresh
  • ✓ Revoke anytime from your dashboard
Method B: Static API Token

Best for headless remote servers, CI/CD, scripts, or environments without a web browser. Pass as an HTTP Bearer header.

Create an API token: Go to Dashboard → + Create API Token → copy the token.

Step 3: Setup Instructions by Platform

Claude (Mobile, Desktop & Code CLI)

Claude mobile app (iPhone & Android)

Talk to your data

Connect once, then speak to Claude from your phone and let it use your Got Simplified tools: ask your calendar, add a note, or query your data lake by voice.

  1. On a Claude mobile app or computer browser, open claude.ai and go to Customize → Connectors. Click + Add → Add custom connector.
  2. Enter a name (e.g. GotSimplified Data) and paste the server URL from Step 1.
  3. Choose Sign in now → Register automatically → Connect, then log in to Got Simplified in the browser.
  4. Open the Claude app on your phone and sign in with the same Claude account. The connector appears there automatically.
  5. Start a chat, tap the + (tools) button, and switch GotSimplified Data on for this chat.
  6. Tap the voice button and just talk: “What is on my calendar tomorrow?” or “Add a note: call the dentist on Friday.”

Connectors are added on claude.ai (web or desktop) and then used from the phone. Custom connectors need a Claude plan that includes them. Use OAuth here: the phone app signs in through the browser, so an API token is not needed.

Claude Code CLI (`claude`)

Option A: OAuth
# 1. Add server
claude mcp add --transport http gs-data YOUR_COPIED_SERVER_URL

# 2. Start claude and authenticate
claude
# Run `/mcp`, select `gs-data`, and choose 'Authenticate'
Option B: API Token
claude mcp add --transport http gs-data YOUR_COPIED_SERVER_URL \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN"

Claude Desktop & claude.ai

  1. Open Customize → Connectors, click + Add → Add custom connector.
  2. Enter name (e.g. GotSimplified Data) and paste the server URL.
  3. For OAuth: Choose Sign in now → Register automatically → Click Connect to log in.
  4. For API Token: Choose No sign in → under Request headers add Authorization = Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN.

Cursor IDE

~/.cursor/mcp.json

Cursor supports remote MCP servers with both interactive browser authentication or static bearer headers.

Option A: Interactive OAuth (Recommended)

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json or project .cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "gs-data": {
      "url": "YOUR_COPIED_SERVER_URL"
    }
  }
}

Then in Cursor: Open Cursor Settings → Features → MCP, find gs-data, and click Connect / Authenticate. Log in via the browser.

Option B: With Static API Token
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "gs-data": {
      "url": "YOUR_COPIED_SERVER_URL",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN"
      }
    }
  }
}

OpenCode CLI & Desktop

~/.config/opencode/opencode.jsonc

OpenCode natively implements RFC 9728 discovery with interactive browser OAuth authentication.

Option A: Via CLI Commands
# 1. Add server
opencode mcp add gs-data --url "YOUR_COPIED_SERVER_URL"

# 2. Browser OAuth login
opencode mcp auth gs-data

# 3. Check status
opencode mcp list
Option B: In Configuration File
{
  "$schema": "https://opencode.ai/config.json",
  "mcp": {
    "gs-data": {
      "type": "remote",
      "url": "YOUR_COPIED_SERVER_URL",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN"
      }
    }
  }
}

Windsurf Cascade (Codeium)

~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json

Windsurf connects using its central mcp_config.json file:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "gs-data": {
      "serverUrl": "YOUR_COPIED_SERVER_URL",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN"
      }
    }
  }
}

Goose CLI & Desktop

~/.config/goose/config.yaml
Via Goose CLI
# Start interactive session with remote MCP server
goose session --mcp "YOUR_COPIED_SERVER_URL"
Via Goose Desktop / Config
extensions:
  gs-data:
    name: gs-data
    type: sse
    uri: YOUR_COPIED_SERVER_URL
    headers:
      Authorization: "Bearer YOUR_API_TOKEN"
